Westfalen Group mourns the loss of Executive Board member Alexander Fritsch-Albert

The Westfalen Group is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Executive Board member Alexander Fritsch-Albert. He died suddenly and unexpectedly on 24 October 2017 at the age of 39. Alexander Fritsch-Albert was the son of Wolfgang Fritsch-Albert, CEO of the Westfalen Group.

Alexander Fritsch-Albert joined the family-owned company in September 2009 as an assistant to the senior management and held a number of positions. In May 2013, Alexander Fritsch-Albert moved abroad to serve as Managing Director of Westfalen Austria GmbH. He then returned to company headquarters at the end of 2014 to become Head of Gas Sales Germany and take up a seat on the Management Committee. Since April 2017, he had been responsible for the Gases Europe executive portfolio. Board member Reiner Ropohl has now been asked to take over the provisional management of this business segment.

The death of Alexander Fritsch-Albert has been a great shock to the family, the Supervisory Board, the Executive Board, the Works Council and all employees of the Westfalen Group. Alexander Fritsch-Albert leaves behind a huge void; his ideas, his motivation and his positive charisma will be forever missed.
